Chateau Lafosse is situated 30 minutes west of Bergerac and 40 minutes East of St Emillion.
The nearest town is Ste Foy La Grande, (approx 6 miles) a medieval Bastide town, which has a weekly market on Saturdays.
The airport at Bergerac is serviced by Stanstead and Southampton.
Bordeaux airport (approx 90 minutes away) is served by both Gatwick & Heathrow.
The TGV operates from Libourne which is 30 minutes away and goes direct to Paris (3 hours 20 minutes).
Chateau Lafosse is a fascinating house covering 3 centuries of architecture.
The original house was built in around 1680
A wing was added in classic Girondine style around 1820 and the in the early 20th Century the barn behind the original farm house was converted to a studio/projection room to show silent movies and a tower was added to the Eastern corner.
It is named Lafosse due to the deep gorge on the property which has prehistoric caves and a river flowing through it!!
Wine was produced on the estate up to 1989 and the Cuvees are still in situ ready for starting up the production of wine again!!
Currently the house sits in approximately 10 acres of itís own land with approximately 2 acres of parkland and the rest as grass paddocks which the local farmer cuts and bales for his own use.
The house has been completely refurbished by the current owner (2010 Ė 2014) and includes all new roofs and insulation, guttering and drainage.
Where possible all the original floors, doors and windows have been kept.
The decorating is an on going project but almost finished!
It also benefits from all new electrical and plumbing work.
The main house has full oil fired central heating.
The kitchen has a fitted wood burner which also powers 5 radiators in the common parts and tops up the hot water system during the winter months.
Solar panels are also fitted and the 2 main bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and laundry room all benefit from hot water all through the summer months.
There are 4 good size bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms.

The remaining barns cover approximately 1000m2 and comprise of 4 separate areas and also what was the estate managerís cottage with a magnificent stone fire place. The roofs on the barns were completely overhauled back in 2010 and are in excellent condition.
The barns have full electric installed, comprising power sockets, and lighting.
They have their own separate fuse boxes.
The grounds are mostly laid to lawns with some centennial trees, oak, cedar and ash. There is also a pecan tree which is over 300 years old and only one of 12 in Europe!
